It's a hedgehog party!

Morning Folks!
Hope those of you in the UK enjoyed the long bank holiday weekend, shame the weather couldn't have been a bit kinder!

This morning, the new challenge at Passion for Promarkers is just starting - Nat has chosen the theme this week -

KINETIC CARDS

Now, I'll be the first to admit that kinetic cards are soooo not my thing, too much patience required and I always get frustrated if they don't work well. Anyhow, after a tour of Pinterest for ideas, I decided to try a double slider card. I watched this great video here which made everything look easy and set off boldly. I adjusted the measurements to suit a 12cm square card - I just can't think in inches. Everything was going well until I attached the mechanism to the card back and then disaster struck, I hadn't realised that you need to use foam tape so that there is enough space for the back panel to still move. My card just jammed shut!
Lesson learnt, card binned after trying unsuccessfully to salvage the slider part. There followed quite a bit of snarling and some rude words ... this is version 2:

Closed:

and then opened:

In the end, I was pleased with how this turned out but it did take a while!! I've learnt a few things along the way which I'll share:
  • Use a thick strong card for the slider part, otherwise it will just bend
  • Freezer bag works well for the slider and doesn't rustle or fall to bits
  • Don't forget to attach to your card with foam tape or squares, saves a good deal of stress and swearing when it jams up
  • I think it is easier to add the patterned paper to the card tabs when you make them but leave adding the images until you're happy everything slides well
  • Keep the decoration on the tabs thin, so it still slides.

Card Details

Hot Pants!

Morning Folks!
Thank goodness it's the weekend, it seems to have been a very long week! Have you got anything nice planned? I'm hoping to tidy my craft room - it looks like a bomb has dropped in there - I think I must be a very messy crafter!
I'm popping by this morning to share my second card as the guest DT member over at The Penny Black Saturday Challenge this month!

It's time for the mid month reminder for the May challenge, the theme is

WEDDING / ANNIVERSARY / LOVE

Here's my card, I've gone quite CAS and also used up a few snippets of some favourite papers. The PB stamp I have used is called 'Hot Pants', quite a small stamp but super cute I think and very easy to colour!

Just realised that the balloon could do with some glossy accents over it - must do that later!

Thank you so much for visiting today and for any comments you'd like to leave! Enjoy the weekend!!

Tag it!

Morning Folks!

We had a great time at Passion for Promarkers last week celebrating our 8th Anniversary and looking at all your Bingo entries - good luck to everyone in the prize draw!
This week, our new theme has been chosen by Lorraine, and it is
TAG IT
a fun choice I think!

Here's my card, using the trusty LOTV tag stamps for my tag element. This must be one of my most used sets of stamps, they are usually found on my desk rather than in a drawer!

Love the smile on those chubby cheeks but I can't help thinking he needs to watch his fur and whiskers near all those candles!

Lots of Little legs!

Morning Folks!
Can you believe that we are halfway through May already - where does the time go to lately??
Anyhow, with it being the 15th, the new challenge is starting over at Sparkles Monthly Challenges. I got to choose this month's theme so I hope you like it:

4 OR MORE LEGS

Lots of possibilities with that one I thought!
True to my usual style I went for an animal themed Penny Black stamp which has lots of little legs on:

I've kept the card the card CAS for two reasons, I wanted the image to be the real focal point and also I was so indecisive I couldn't make up my mind whether to add die cuts, pearls, gems or flowers ... after much faffing around I went back to my first plan - ribbon and sentiment!!

Card Details:
Stamp - PB Cheesecake parade
coloured with promarkers
Papers - Dovecraft Bact to Basics - Bright Spark
Ribbon - Anita's
Sentiment - Crafter's Companion

Morning Folks!

I've got a BIG smile on my face this morning as I am the guest DT member over at The Penny Black Saturday Challenge this month!
Thank you to Helen and the girls for inviting me to join them and for the fab badge!

The new challenge theme is

WEDDING / ANNIVERSARY / LOVE

Here's my card, I've gone for the Anniversary option. I seem to be in a phase of making masculine cards at the moment, so I'm planning to give this cute card using PB stamp called Cheesecake Dreams, to my hubby for our anniversary. I'm actually getting a bit ahead of myself, which makes a change, as the special day isn't until August!

Henry the sick car!

Morning Folks!
It's the first Friday of the month which means it's time for a new challenge over at Making Memories Crafting
Our new theme is everyone's favourite:

ANYTHING GOES

This month we are being sponsored by Sparkle Sprinkle

who also kindly gave the design team some images to play with. Here's my card using the fabulous Henry which you can find here in the shop. He was super fun to colour with the trusty promarkers. As this is a 'masculine card', I went with minimal frills - just a silver mirri frame and a few bits of card candi. The stamped sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

I hope you'll head over to the main blog to see some more inspiration from the rest of the design team.
We'd love to see what you have been creating so please try to join us this month!!

Polar Bear Family

Morning Folks!
Happy May Day! I hope those in the UK are enjoying the  bank holiday weekend - must say it's a tad chilly here!

As it's the first of the month, we have a new challenge starting over at SPARKLES CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE  and the theme is:

SNOWFLAKES

Here's my card, using a Craft Creations decoupage sheet that I bought many, many years ago when I first started card making - in an era before the rubber stamping and colouring addiction! As it's quite a large decoupage sheet I just mounted it, added some stickles to the image for a bit of festive sparkle and a couple of die cut snowflakes with gem centres. The photo makes the card look a bit out of shape, it isn't really, but I was struggling with the reflection off the silver mirri card - so need to improve the photography skills!
