Party Giraffe

As well as being Father's day, today is also my husbands birthday, so a double celebration in our house. As Alex is quite tall (6ft 4"+) and I am much much shorter, he has always had the nick name of Giraffe and it has become something of a family tradition to get him cards/presents with a giraffe theme. Over the years, he has received an amazing amount of giraffe goodies! This image is one I saw on Dustin Pikes site ages ago and I knew it would be just perfect for this years card! It just makes me grin everytime I see it, I love the whole wacky idea of giraffes wearing party hats and blowing party tooters (not quite a vuvuzela, but I'm sure he could make a racket........)
The image is coloured with promarkers and the papers are from a Mat Stack by DCVW. I used the fab sketch over at Friday Sketchers but decided to change the bottom scalloped edge into party bunting - took a while but love the end result! Don't think it shows up too well on the piccy but the tooter, party hat, tie and bunting are all glittered up using gel pens.
I'd also like to enter this into the following challenges:
My Time to craft:Xtra special
Creative Craft Challenge: For the man in your life (or should that be Giraffe??)
One Stop Craft Challenge: One for the boys
Off to cook something nice for dinner now...Have a good evening!

Party Owl

This is my second post today, so I guess you can probably tell there has been NO i***ing done !! This card was a rare flash of inspiration for me, well very rare in fact... I had some nesties laying on my desk waiting to be tidied away and also 'Birthday Hoot' from Pink Gem, waiting to be put into a CD case for storage. Anyways, I suddenly realised that the owl fitted the hexagon really well and then I remembered the crafty cardmakers challenge this week which is 'Inside out' so I thought why not put the owl inside (3rd piccy down) and make her a little window to look out of!! Not exactly genius I know, but I'm happy LOL!! Coloured the owl with promarkers and mounted onto a hexagonal piece of Bazzill bling. The balloon paper is from Dovecraft birthday stack, birthday brad and ribbon are both from my stash. Tricky bit was getting the bow right.....still not 100% sure about it. I'd like to enter Mrs Owl into the following challenges:
Crafty Cardmakers : Inside out
A spoonful of sugar: Celebrations
My time to craft: Vivid colours (hope this is bright enough!)
By the cute & girly: Celebrations
Passion for promarkers: Anything goes
Stampavie and more: Happy birthday for a girl
Paperplay: Up in the air (the balloons!!)
The Crafty Pad challenge: Over the edge (the ribbon)
O.S.A.A.T. : Furry friends ( & birds!)
Thanks for looking!

Baby Elephant card!!

Hi Folks!! I'm back to the land of blogging after going AWOL for a while after Easter!! I managed to clear a small space on my desk today and get some crafting done, think I must be the worlds most disorganised crafter - or is it because I am untidy?? Perhaps best not to answer that one!!!
Anyways, here is the result of this afternoons efforts, a cute baby elephant card which might become a 'New baby card' - a family friend is due very soon or if the new baby isn't 'pink' as my nephew would say, I thought it would make a nice kids card!!
The inspiration for this card came from the Sketchy Colors challenge, this week the colours are pink, grey & white and as soon as I read them I thought of my new elephant digi stamp! This cutie is from Squigglefly and it is drawn by Crissy Armstrong who has just started a new challenge blog called Sundays with Crissy. The first challenge is 'To make it a combo' so in my usual fashion I decided to combine this card into multiple challenges!! I used the fab sketch over at Sketch & Stash along with my new digi stamp and a sheet of 12" x 12" paper by American Crafts which has been in my stash since forever (not even sure why I bought it originally!!) . Rather appropriately I think my little elephant fits nicely with the challenge recipe over at The Pink Elephant this week, which is to use 1 image, 2 dies (scalloped and plain circle nesties) and 3 favourite embellishments (layered up flowers). Allsorts this week are looking for petals and pearls and My Time to Craft also have pearls as a challenge. Crafty Angels challenge is 'My favourite things' which could be interpreted in 2 ways for this card - I love elephants (you might have guessed) and I also love flowers on my cards! Then last, but by no means least, Papertake weekly challenge is 'Cutie Pie' which I think this little Ellie definately is!!
I think that 8 should qualify as a 'combo' of challenges LOL, thanks for looking!!!
